Why is Tracking so Important in Logistics?
At Rexing Companies, we pride ourselves on giving all our customers the best possible service we can provide. For PFL Logistics and JR’s Expedited Freight, we help achieve this through the tracking of our shipments, carriers, and drivers. Why is tracking so important to the industry?
- Safety
The safety of both the drivers and the load. Being able to see the location of the driver and load allow us to maintain the safety of both. If anything is out of the ordinary, our brokers will be able to spot it and contact the driver or carrier to see if anything unusual has occurred. So, if anyone tries to stop the driver to steal your load, or if a driver has a medical issue, our team will know.
In addition to preventing any harm-doers, our team can use the tracking to keep track of drivers in regards to weather. Severe weather can pop up at any moment, and we can use this to alert the drivers of any severe weather and keep them from driving into possible dangerous situations.
- Timely and Accurate Predictions
Keeping a timely schedule. While we do our best to keep everything on a tight schedule, anyone that knows the shipping industry knows that there will be obstacles. Whether it is a delay on getting loaded up or traffic on a load with a tight schedule, sometimes the plan may get knocked off course. With the ability to track the shipments, we can alert the receiver of the load that there may be a delay and they can adjust their schedule accordingly. On the flip side, a driver may make great time on the road, and we can track that, and see if we can get a shipment to the receiver even quicker.
- Carrier Credibility
Verifying we are working with the best possible partners. PFL, again, prides itself on getting the job done in the most timely and efficient manner possible. In order to do this, we must work with a variety of carriers. We have many carriers that are trusted partners, but some we have never worked with before. In order to maintain our important level of service, we want to ensure that we are only working with the highest level of carriers. We can make sure that we have reputable carriers by tracking and verifying their progress.
